If the first hint of cool weather has you putting on a flannel shirt and running to a fall festival, then this recipe is for you! These Apple Cider Glazed Donuts are a not-too-dense baked spiced apple cider donut with a sweet apple cider glaze. Pair with a spooky movie and some pumpkin carving.

Make the Donut Batter

For this recipe, you will need to use an apple cider reduction to get a strong apple flavor. To make your reduction, simply simmer apple cider until it reduces to about 1/3 of its original volume. For the batter you will need ½ cup of reduced apple cider, so you would start with 1 and ½ cups.

To make the batter, follow these simple steps:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and salt. Set aside.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, one egg, granulated and brown sugars, plain Greek yogurt, and vanilla until smooth. Then stir in the reduced apple cider.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Spray donut pans with baking spray or generously brush with softened butter.

Transfer the donut batter to a piping bag and pipe into the prepared donut pans, filling about ¾ of the way full.

Bake the Donuts

Bake the donuts 350°F for 10-12 minutes until the edges of the donut are golden brown and the dough bounces back when you gently press it with your finger. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Glaze the Donuts

Make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, apple pie spice, melted butter, and reduced apple cider until smooth. Dip the donuts into the glaze to fully coat the top halves of the donuts. The glaze will set over time.

These donuts are best served fresh, but they can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Alternatively, you can freeze unglazed donuts for up to 3 months.
